2010 CBC 1224.4.6 and Table 1224.2 - Medical Gas and Vacuum Outlets

Regarding 2010 CBC 1224.2.6 and Table 1224.2 (station outlets), is the intent to require the listed outlets at each room/space within a facility (for example, treatment rooms shall be required to have both oxygen and vacuum outlets)? Or is it the intent to only specify the number of required outlets when gas/vacuum is actually proposed (for example, treatment rooms with only oxygen shall have 1 outlet per room ... but no vacuum is proposed)?

I'm always surprised to see these sorts of posts on this forum. If you are looking for interpretation of OSHPD requirements please contact me. You would benefit from a better understanding of where the requirements come from which in this instance is "Guidelines for the Design and Construction of Health Facilities"

http://openpub.realread.com/rr.../FGI/2010_Guidelines

The table lists minimum required STATION OUTLETS FOR OXYGEN, VACUUM (SUCTION), AND MEDICAL AIR when piped gas and vacuum systems are provided in an OSHPD facility. Please note the example you pose "Examination or treatment" is specific to medical/surgical and postpartum care which is provided in hospitals facilities regulated by OSHPD. This along with other clarifications will be corrected in future code revisions.
