Elevator Requirements

Ok my friends...here goes.

We are a church in Oklahoma that is building a 30,000 sq ft facility.

We have about 4,000 sq ft on the 2nd floor.

We have been informed by the State Fire Marshall that we must have an elevator or lift installed. $50,000 addition.

We have heard that if the 2nd floor is finished with less than 3,000 sq ft that we would not be required to have an elevator or lift.

ADA requirements are not mandatory, since we are a church.

Does anyone know if the 3,000 sq ft comment is legit or not?

Thanks,
Robin

legit or not you have to make the fire marshal happy,

so that is who you need to ask the question to. He is the only one that can say yes or no.

not and ada person but would check on this also:

also what building code is this being built under?? and edition???

sometimes the building code requires elevators.
They are using the 2006 BOCA
