Restroom in adjacent bldg

I have a client who wants to tear down a 70 year old 12,000 SF warehouse and rebuild it.  The current building does not have a restroom and the warehouse workers use the restroom in the adjacent building.  I am remembering that some time in the past you could use a restroom in an adjacent building (on the same property) as long as it was within a certain distance.  I cannot find it in the current CPC, did that go away at some point?  It appears that per CPC 422.4 that EACH bldg or structure requires one.  Thanks all!!

This may be what you are looking for, from 422.4 '13 CPC:

Required toilet facilities for employees and customers in other than shopping malls or centers shall have a maximum travel distance not to exceed 500 feet

If the AHJ agrees, then you could replace the building without restrooms
