Spray paint Booth and Small welding area

Inside a large warhouse (tilt up concrete and wood roof) building I have a client that is installing a manufactured Paint booth. He is a sign maker so he needs an area that he can paint the metal for the signs he builds. Additionally he has a small area, that from time to time he will be doing some welding. For the paint booth we have the sprinkler system and the mechinical system that will comply to the IFC and etc. The welding area we are posting and doing thing to make it a safe area. What occupancy will be these two areas. Big Grin

JWC,

To answer your question, it is an F-1 occupancy.

The OCFA guidelines only apply if the paint is oil based. In California, the paint spray booth is supposed to be listed by The State Fire Marshal.

For welding, you will need to capture the fumes at the source for workers' safety per the Mechanical Code.
