Recently we did a museum (was a residence converted to an office, and now converted to a museum.)
The city plan review guy asked us to do an exit plan (egress) and I did.
One door (the front door) opens inside (inwards) as in a residence. The # of occupants I show on the exit plan using that door is 43. They are contending that if you add the number (of occupants) using the nearest exit to the number using the front door exit, and divide by 2 - it pushes it over 50 occupants and therefore requires the front door to open outward (be modified to open in direction of egress). I have found nothing in the code to support the addition of the nearest door and dividing by 2.
I would love to get any input from the forum
